I overheard a 9 year old saying this to his teacher this week as he was waiting with the rest of his class to go in and get a present from father Christmas at the school fair. Its true that this child has a very hard life and that things are no different for him at Xmas than any other time of the year. It made me think about the assumptions that adults working in schools may make about this time of year being great for everyone.
It’s so important that we all try to remember that Christmas may not be a joyful time for everyone, children included, and that we are sensitive and supportive to this.
